Can someone describe me what does this below expression means.

=sum({<[Amount Type]={'Forecast'},[Det Year]=,[Fiscal Month]=,[Sale Month]={$(vCurrentMonthForecast)} >} Qty)

You have to be familiar with the basics of set analysis to understand this.

It sums the Qty for [Amount Type]-> 'Forecast' ignoring any selection in the fields - [Det Year], [Fiscal Month] for a value [Sale Month] which comes from the variable -vCurrentMonthForecast.

Please learn set analysis, it's a VERY IMPORTANT feature of qv.

I recommend you see also Alternate State, because it's another very important feature of qlikview that allow you to work with different selections for same field, useful for chart comparisons in my scenarios.
