Hi everybody,

I'm using qlikview without a license, I tried to open some files of the others, and I was blocked to open any file after some try, I'm not able to open even my own file now. The error message is like : "Installation of qlikview has exceeded the max number of recovery of document with a personnal edition...Does anyone has met the same problem with me?

Regards,

Xu

You can now only create new documents and can no longer access documents you created earlier.

From the Personal Edition FAQ:

What is "Document Recovery" and when should I use it?

Please read carefully: Technically, every document is now saved with a user key -- information that ties that file to the file's creator. In Personal Edition, users can only open files that they have created.

We recognize that it may be necessary to install QlikView on a different computer (i.e. computer upgrade, replacement, etc.). In order to open documents created using the previous installation of QlikView, you will need to "recover" the files. Recovering files simply means that you are assigning an updated user key (old machine -> new machine) to these documents. When you recover a file, you are telling QlikView that you are moving this file to your new installation, and you will no longer be using it on your previous installation.

IMPORTANT: QlikView Personal Edition is limited to four recoveries per installation. When you recover a QlikView file created with a previous installation, it will apply your new user key to ALL documents created using the previous installation, not just that particular file.

DO NOT attempt to open QlikView files that you did not create (from the forums, created by a colleague, etc.) Doing so will use one of your remaining recovery attempts, and once you have exhausted all 4 of the attempts, you will no longer be able to access documents that you have created and, from that point on, you will only be able to create new documents using your current QlikView installation.

Hi,

Trying to open qlikview documents of others without lincense is only allowed only 3 times. After that it will show the error mentioned by you.

If you have developed some application on personal edition on your PC, then you can open it any number of times.

Hope this helps.

Amay

All,

I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on this: I have a similar problem to the one talked about in this thread, and I understand that I've used up all my allowed recoveries, and the reason for it. However, I now have a problem whereby if I create a new QVW file, save it, close Qlikview and then open it again, I still cannot open the file I just created, getting the same message as above. Since I am clearly using the same PC, user profile, etc. as when I created the file, why should I be prompted about exceeding the maximum number of recoveries? At the moment, this means I can no longer use Qlikview.

Please help!!!

Many thanks.

Hi, simonking,

I've reinstalled qlikview after reaching the limite of thread, and I can reopen the file that I create without problem. You can try it too, hope it helps.

Hi freeprophet,

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, having uninstalled and reinstalled Qlikview, it does not make any difference. I cannot open files created previously, and even if I create a new file and save it, I cannot then re-open it.

It seems my use of Qlikview has come to an end as it is unlikely I will be able to purchase a licence. Very sad.

Hi Simonking,

I´m facing the same problem with my QView installation.

I uninstall my personnel edition and reinstall it, therefore I still facing the same problem...

Did you found any alternative due to solve it?

Thanks!

QlikView stores some 'hidden' information to control if you´re already used QlikView into your computer.

If you reinstall your Windows, this information will be erased
