Problem running QlikView desktop on a server

Hi all

I've got a problem that I can't resolve and need some suggestions on.  I've got a QV server running Windows 2003, 64-bit (virtual).  It was running QV 9, up to SR7.  At the beginning of March we upgraded to QV 10 SR4, server and desktop.  Server is running fine, but sometimes on opening QV 10 desktop QlikView would not appear, but a qv.exe process would be running.  This didn't happen all the time, QlikView was usually opening OK.

Yesterday this behaviour became permanent - when trying to open QV 10 desktop from any shortcut the hourglass appears briefly and then disappears, and nothing happens.  A qv.exe process is created, but isn't visible.  I can try repeatedly, but I never see QlikView, just the processes running in Task Manager.  On trying to open a qvw by double-clicking on it, a message is displayed that Windows cannot find the path to that document.

I have unistalled and reinstalled several times, rebooted the server, cleared out all the registery entries that I think apply to desktop rather than server, even tried reinstalling QV 9 instead, with no effect, I cannot get QV desktop to run.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before, or have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Of course, as soon as I post that, the handy "More Like This" showed me this post:  http://community.qlik.com/message/190286#190286

Problem solved.  The path for Windows 2003 is C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\QlikTech
