I have a qvw that was designed in 7.5 and when I try to load it in 9.0 it looks like it will load, but instead it shuts down QV. Someone mentioned that the reason it won't load it is becuase QV 7.5 allows loose tables and 9.0 does not...is that correct?
I have been able to open other 7.5 qvws in 9.0. Is there another reason why some qvws won't work?
just a suspicion: the 7.5 qvw might be sort of faulty; not totally, bot faulty enough that 7.5 CAN read it and 9 CANNOT. Perhaps it's worth to try to repair it - there is or at least WAS a repair tool in 7.X and 8.X - I don't remember the name and can't access our systems now ... I used it from time to time, when I couldn't open a qvw any more and there was no obvious reason why.
Just a suspicion, as said. But QV 9 is still buggy enough that the only way out is waiting for the service release end of September (or perhaps still longer). Anyway, perhaps you could also try to solve the problem by intermediately installing 8.5 somewhere, open and save it with that and then try with 9.0 again.
Thanks!!! I was able to open the qvw with 8.5 per your suggestion. I could not find the repair option so I re-saved the qvw in 8.5, but still not able to open in 9.0. It almost seems like 9.0 is running out of memory. Anyway, at least I can view the qvw which was my main concern. I'll trying playing around with it in 8.5 and see if I can get it to work in 9.0 . Fine that it helped a little. Anyway, I'll try to retrieve the repair tool. Can't promise, but I think I must still have it on one of our servers. Perhaps this could help you a little more.
