Problems Opening an existing QVW file

I'm using Ver 9.0 Personal Edition. I have created a qvw file using the Personal Edition. However, when opening the qvw file with the Personal Edition, I am prompted that a license key file is missing and the qvw file cannot be opened and I have to use the recovery process to open it (there appears to be some limit on how many times this can be done). (Sorry the prompt is no longer displayed so I don't have the exact message). I'm confused because I created the qvw file within the my Personal Edition and I am opening it within my Personal Edition. I have already performed the recovery a few times within the last few days and only have 2 occurences remaining. Any ideas on why this is occuring? I have spent considerable time creating multiple pages and charts and don't want to have to recreate this.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Cross linking another post where users are also complaining about similar issues:

Hi,

In personal edition you can open your own developed qvd or qvw,  n- number of times(like licensed version) but when u re install your Qlikview Software or re install your Operation System it will treat as new copy of QlikView Personal Edition. So, your already developed qvw or qvd treat as developed in different machine. You will get may be 3-4 occurrences to see those qvw or qvds.

In best practice of using Personal Edition after create qvws or qvds take a copy of whole scripts in a note pad.

Please close this thread if you get your answer.

Note: my answer is for non-licensed version.

Thanking you

Biplab, thanks for your reply.

I have neither reinstalled O.S nor reinstalled Qlikview. These 2 Qlikview files were created on this machine itself on the same installation. I have never opened any other user's files also ever.

The only visible and relevant change is a different IP address.

Seems that the logic that this software uses has some bug where it is picking up some false triggers to lock out the user from its work. Would appreciate if someone looks into it (unless this bug is a deliberate tactic to force users to buy the licence).

You might want to see this thread:

Here jlsantana provides a workaround for these kind of troubles.

I've personally tested and it works like a charm.

There is no prj folder being created in this case. Thus this work around is not applicable.

I see that users have been complaining on this issue from posts dating back to 2009 and still no good fix from Qliktech. Apart from network ip change, the only other change I made was change my password (same domain and user name). Seems there is a bug in the logic that someone at QlikTech needs to pay attention to instead of keeping such a long trail of disappointed users.

Yesterday I encountered same problem with my file...

"This file contains inconsistencies and cannot be opened by Personal Edition"

I am using QV PE Version 12.0.20300.0 SR4 64-bit Edition (x64).

This problem occurred with me for the first time. I have been moving my laptop office to home daily for three years but it never happened. Also my QV files are on Google Drive (always sync) for one year, but this problem happened for first time. I was afraid and I moved all my files from GD to normal folder.

Has someone reached any solution?

Thanks
