Hello,
I have one server with 8 cores and 16GB RAM. It is running Windows Server Enterprise (32bit).
I have created a QlikView aplication that has lots to calculate, so it needs like over 8GB (from time to time).
The server uses normally only 20% of the RAM and under 16% of the total CPU power. When I open the application it starts to calculate the data,
and uses over 13% (more then one core) of the CPU, but breaks once it gets near the 2GB RAM.
I was wondering if there is a way to allow it to use more then this limit, as I have like 13GB of RAM free and yet can't use more then just 2GB.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Sure, you need to install a 64-bit windows .
A 32 bit machine can only use 2GB RAM per process. There is a way to make it use 3GB, but when I tried it on my machine, it became unbootable and took hours of tech support to fix, so I don't really recommend it. That won't be enough for you anyway. You need a 64-bit system like Daniel says.
If its SQL Server then we can enable AWE.
However, I am not sure if this is still applicable to QlikView.
Cheers - DV
