Hi All,
Does a QV file made on PE version on one machine can be opened on another machine with QV desktop license?
BR,
SAK
yeah but it gives you only max either 5 times or 3times to open that file which creates on another machine
then oit generates a key for your PC which the OS understand
and then give you the error if exceed the limits of time like
If you have modified the qvw file on another computer than your own, you will have to make a recovery of the qvw file. Recovery is only allowed 4 times on a single qvw file. Since the personal edition is personal, there is a limitation; you can only use personal edition qvw files on one single computer. The recovery feature is implemented for those who need to upgrade or change computer.
Important: If you are working on many personal edition qvw files and has to make a recovery on one of the files. A recovery on a single qvw file will affect all the other qvw files you have created as well...
A personal edition qvw file can always be opened by a QlikView with a valid license key. If you have recovered a file too many times and can't open it in Personal Edition anymore, you will need a full QlikView license to open it again.

For clarification, I have 30 qvw files made on personal edition on one machine. I am changing the system now. Can I open all the files on the new machine or only 4-5 files? I mean receovery attempt is linked to file or machine?
Hi,
If you change the system, then you can open only 4 files, after that you will get the error, qlikview validates the license by Machine name.

Jagan.
Does it mean if I had to use all the 30 qvw files, I would have to buy TWO QV Desktop licenses to transfer all files from one machine to another. ![]()
Or Can I export all the layouts (made in PE) and import in the machine with QV desktop license?

SAK
HI,
You can buy one license and use it in the second machine, there is no need in first machine. Since you created all the files in first machine, you can open the files without any license.
Hope this helps you.

Jagan.
But once saved on the licenced machine, he won't be able to open again on the first machine, right ?

Still not clear. I have two machines - old and new. Old one has PE and for new one I will take QV desktop (USD 1,350) license. I will throw in garbage the old machine. I will copy all files from old to new machine. Can I open all 30 files on new machine?
