Hi guys,
I'm a new user to QV, and I have a question about .share and .meta files. Could anyone explain what they are? Are they automatically generated when I create a new .qvw file? or under certain conditions?
Thanks!!!
Both will be created when first time user access the QVW from accesspoint..
META file that contains:
a.AccessPoint attributes
b.Pre-load options
c.Authorization (Document Metadata Service – that is, DMS – mode only)
Shared Files
There are multiple objects available for user collaboration and sharing through QlikView Server:
Bookmarks
Sheet objects, including charts
Reports
Annotations

Hi Phan,
Thanks for your answer! So do you mean the files are not created when I develop the .qvw file, instead they will be automatically created when I open my .qvw file through Accesspoint, correct?
Yes. that is correct.
Great! Thank you!
Is possible to create the meta file from the api or otherwise without accessing the access point?
Thanks
It is potentially possible to get .meta created via the QMS APIs, as you can do this in the QMC via Documents\User Documents by changing/adding any attribute settings there, that will force a .meta file to be created for the app. Here is a link to the QMS API Help:
Sorry I do not know the exact methods you may need here etc., but hopefully you may be able to sort things out. One way to try to reverse engineer things might be to run a trace on the QMC calls as you hit those pages etc.
Regards,
Brett
