QlikView 12: Couldn't connect to server (a website)

QV12 12.40.20000.0

Calling this URL: https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-hist.xml works fine in Internet Explorer.

In QV I get the message: Couldn't connect to server

This is the logfile text:

2019-06-07 08:07:43 0637 TempCurrencyExchangeRates:
2019-06-07 08:07:43 0638 noconcatenate load

2019-06-07 08:08:05 Error: Cannot open file: 'https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-hist.xml'

I also tried this on another system but get the same error.

Any thoughts?

In the same network this works fine in QV11.20: 11.20.12904.0 SR12

It works fine here. So I doubt it's Qlikview that's the problem.

Does your browser use a proxy to connect to the internet?
