QlikView Desktop 12 log-file save

Hi,

I usually check my log-file during reload. However I noticed, that this is not possible anymore in QlikView 12, since the log-file will be created/updated not before the end of the reload task. Are there any parameters in QlikView to configure that the log is updated also during the reload.

Thanks in advance!!

Moritz

Hi Moritz,

As of the release of QlikView 12 SR1, the document reload log is generated locally on the QlikView Distribution Service node handling the reload task inside %ProgramData%\QlikTech\QlikViewBatch. Once the reload has completed, the document log is then copied to the Source Document folder and QDS Application Data folder. The purpose of this change is to avoid continuously writing log entries to remote folders. This change is documented in the Release Notes for QlikView 12 SR1, which is available in our download site.

Accordingly, if you want to monitor document logs during reload, you can find the logs in %ProgramData%\QlikTech\QlikViewBatch. Temporary logs in this folder will be erased when the reload is done.

Hope this helps

Your answer is for QlikView Server

... and where are the log-files stored during reload for the QlikView Desktop

Thanks Chip,

I found the log-files in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikView

Not applicable

this is the worst feature of QV12 Desktop ever.

we also checked the logs during reload because of <empty> process-window.

also we could see errors in these logs. now, we have to go to the ^^folder^^ and check the logs instead of reading the log in the report-folder...

why not adding an opt-in or opt-out feature?

I have to agree with you Marcel. Our deployment is not so large that it would impact the server, but certainly slows debug time as our admin is halfway around the world. Our developers do not have access to the server folder they now reside in.

Not good Qlik.

<sigh>

YMMV,
