QlikView Installation - Logon information

Hi All,

While upgrading QV server, I get the below option in the installation wizard.

My questions are.

1. What does the option specify?

2. and in what scenario would this be used/checked?

Thanks

Umar

HI,

You can use this option if you don't have the service account handy. However, you will need to go to Services and add the service account and password for each of the Qlik services before you restart the machine.

With the below you can either use the service account ID to communicate between the different Qlik Services or use Certificates.  Certificates are normally used when you have a machine in the DMC that isn't a member of the inside domain. This way the services can communicate and it is saver.

The QlikView services need to run using an account with specific privileges. This is not necessarily the same account as the one you use to install/upgrade the software. Here you specify the credentials of the account the services should use for their day-to-day operations. You can either specify it during installation or after the installation has finished (because the AD people are a bit slow, or maybe because you didn't ask them for a new service account yet)

If you have the details of the service account (you should, because you are performing an upgrade), then disable the checkbox and enter account name and password in this dialog.

The different QlikView Services (usually there are 5 of them) need to talk to each other. Because not everyone should be able to do that, a special authentication mechanism is needed to tell the target service that the source service really is a trusted party. There are two methods to use for authenticating communications between services. The text underneath each option explains how it works and in what situation it is typically used.

Option "Use QlikView Administrators Group" is used most often because it is very easy to track and manage.
