You want to lease a license for your desktop client from the server? Or do you need to update the server license?

If you want to lease a license, follow

Three important things to verify before you can lease a license from a QlikView server:

  1. Was the server installed correctly? Can you open the AccessPoint (it may even display "NO SERVER". In that case, go to step 2) If not, check your services, check whether you know the Qlikview server name, etc...
  2. Was the server licensed? Named CALs are embedded in the server license. They do not exist on their own. You have to license your server before you can lease a Named CAL. Every server license comes with at least 5 Named CALs (except mine). Start a browser and open the QMC, then check System->Licenses->QlikView Server->QlikView Server License. Don't know how to reach the QMC? Use URL http://servername:4780/qmc/default.htm where servername should be replaced with the name of the machine that is running the QMS. If this still doesn't work, go to step 1.
  3. Have you been assigned a Named CAL in the QMC? If not, go to QMC->System->Licenses->Client Access Licenses (CALs)->Assigned CALs and add your account to the list (to add a user, click the green icon in the top right corner). Don't forget to press the Apply button!

Post back if you experience any problems with this sequence.

Best,

Peter

You have to add your user to Assigned CALs in QMC.
