QlikView Project Tiers/Layers

Hi All,

Which scenario will go for 3 Tier - Stage 1 (Basic Qvds), Stage 2 (Intermediate Qvds), Stage 3 (Final app)

Which scenario will go for 2 Tier - Stage 1 (Basic Qvds & Intermediate Qvds), Stage 2 (Final app)

Which scenario will go for 1 Tier - Stage 1 (Final app)

Can anyone share knowledge on this with little examples.

Regards,

Nihhal.

Hi,

Tier 1:

If you are using some data in only one Dashboard then you can do all Extract, Transform and load in the same file.

Tier2:

If you are using some data in multiple dashboards then create two layers, data extraction in one layer and Transform & Presentation in same layer (if you are not using same datamodel in any other dashboards then use this type).

Tier 3: If we are using same datamodel in multiple dashboards then use this pattern.

In general follow the 3 tier pattern in all the Dashboards so that it would be easier to understand.

Regards,

Jagan.

Hi Nihhal,

No sample, but you can create yourself.

I Tier:

All Load script, Transformation and Presentation (Charts) in a single Qlikview file.

II Tier:

First QVW File: Pull data from Databases/DataSources and save it in QVDs.

Second QVW File:Create the Datamodel and apply business logic and create the Presentation (Charts) in this Qlikview file.

III Tier:

First QVW File: Pull data from Databases/DataSources and save it in QVDs.

Second QVW File:Create the Datamodel and apply business logic

Third QVW File: Binary load the second qlikview file and create the Presentation (Charts) in this Qlikview file.

Hope this helps you.

Jagan.

hi nihal,

1 Tier architecture is least preferable for performance and maintenance wise.

suited for Smaller data sets.

so raw data is extracted ,transformed and data model is created and visualization in same layer

2 Tier architecture and preferred for Smaller data sets.

Raw data is extract in first layer,

transformation ,data model and visualization is done in second layer

3 Tier architecture is most preferable for performance and maintenance wise.

suited for Larger data sets.

so raw data is extract in first layer,

transformation and data model is done in second layer

and visualization is done in third layer .

Neetha
