QlikView Reports :(

I'm having a hard time creating QlikView reports. The entire workflow seems buggy and immature.

  • WYSIWYG is broken - Reports and Print Previews (Actual Prints) never match!
  • Stretch behaviour is broken
  • No support for Undo/Redo
  • Selection is broken

Just wanted to confirm, is there something very wrong that I'm doing? Also, are there any other alternatives?

hi from my experience you don't do anything wrong

the report editior is not very friendly to work with.

you should just try to change the report setting and preview it.

there are some altenative as i know, but those  alternatives , are not supported by qlikview and cost additional money

It's actually sad to work in the Report editor. IMHO, they shouldn't have released it in the first place!

Anyways, please go ahead and let me about any feasible alternatives.

Have anyone reviewed NPrinting as an alternative to the standard QlikView reports?

NPrinting exports data to excel or word or powerpoint so you can realize what you want with these tools.

Hi,

NPrinting offers far more than just QlikView reports. It can automatically schedule tasks such as QV reloads and also send the output to folders or email accounts in a number of different formats. Not only can it pick up existing QV reports but can also send data as Word, Excel or Powerpoint documents that your users may be more familiar with. It is also a much cheaper option to QlikView Publisher.

Have a look at http://bit.ly/ZXxY4R for more information.

Regards,

Neil

I tried NPrinting, but it seems to only be able to export images of QlikView objects (PowerPoint 2013). Is there a way to embed QV objects and maintain interactivity without being in a Qlikview Server environment?

Hi, Shawn.

No, I'm afraid NPrinting does not enable QlikView functionlity within a Microsoft product. I think QlikTech would flip out if they found their functionality could be maintained without need for a QlikView licence.

You do need QlikView to maintain the functionality. Sometimes it is worth querying whether the recipient genuinely needs the ability to utilise QlikView strengths to dynamically drill through and analyse the data or are they more interested in the bottom line. If the latter, it can be far cheaper to have NPrinting pump out static reports to Powerpoint/Excel/Word so that the user can tweek it in a familiar environment than to pay for doc or user CALs for every recipient. Of course, this depends on the number of recipients of the data.
