QlikView Server Installation on Multiple servers

Hello ,

I have a requirement to install QV server on multiple servers . I have got 2 servers ( Server 1 and Server 2 ) where in I need to install QVS, QDS, DSC and QMS  services on Server 1 and Qlikview setting service ( IIS Web server) on Server 2 .

Problem :

I have done full installation on Server 1 and all Services are up and running fine with the service account ,and installed Qlikview setting service on Server 2 , which is also running fine with the same service account . Now the problem is when I added Server 2 (where QSS is running) under web server option in the server 1 . Its started showing message on the title bar that 'Server 2 is down '.

Could you pls advise me on what could be the reason for the error message .

P.S : I am using test server license .

BR,

Joe

You need to be sure the QVWS service URL works properly for starters, you can copy that URL from the QMC\System\Setup\QlikView Web Servers resource and the General tab, just paste that into a new web browser tab on Server 1 and see what is returned.  You should get an xml-based response back, any error will indicate a port issue or something not allowing the connection, my best hunch would be TCP port 4750 is blocked between Server 1 and Server 2, as that is the port used for that connection.  Best I can offer with the info provided thus far.  You can also try increasing the QMS logging to High/Debug and seeing if anything additional is being written to the log file, as that may provide another clue too.

Brett

Hi Brett,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes , I noticed that on Server 2 ports were not opened so I asked infra team to open the ports . I will try it on Monday and let you know if it works .

And, I want to ask one more question - Do I need to have cluster license for this setup ?

Thanks a ton.

Joe
