Hi all,
I am developing an application quite similar to the "QlikStart for SalesForce.com" demo that you all can find under demo.qlik.com (page 3).
I was wondering how to get the same look as that demo? I have tried to save the layout in the demo and then I applied it to my own document, but as I can see, not all design attributes came through. Is there any "how-to" on QV themes somewhere?
I appreciate all help!
Kim
Although i have not seen the Sales Force demo i have noticed recently that there is various differnet styles that can be achieved by changing the 'Styling Mode' between Simplified and Advnaced within the document settings for the application.
If you haven't found this app then i sometimes find it useful as you can look at the settings to see how the different styles are created. Things like sopying the colour of borders can be done easily by right clicking on a colour setting and copying the styling. You can then right click on another colour setting and pasting the style.
hope this helps
Lewis
Hi,
I will look into this. Thank you!
Hi,
I am assuming you have tried to Import the Themes. If not, please try the Import/Export Themes. Also, I generally load my colors & Images in the load script for re-usability.
Good luck!

What do you mean load any Images in the load script? sounds interesting...

Hi Lewis,
When I develop QV applications. I generally have one or two design templates for RAD (Rapid Application Development). Infact sometimes I develop well designed prototype within a day or hours. So the idea to have a template and we just change the Color values to match the brand guidelines, very often it is two or three color theme. I mean we use Primary & Secondary colors and change these values in the load script and all the objects in UI will get changed based on these recently loaded values. Same applies to images, if there are multiple images in QV document then you use Bundle Load or Info Load.
The difference between Bundle & Info Load is the former embeds the image within the QV document, this means you don't need to provide external access to render the image. However, the later - Info load sits on the OS and need to provide access to render the image. Both have their pros and cons and it depends on your environment and requirement.
This way I can develop the UI within minutes and rest of the work will be on data model.
I hope it makes sense.
Good luck!

It does make sense, a lot of sense. Things like this are invaluable to pick up!
Many thank

Hi DV,
I need help on creating a QlikView theme. I notice that the theme contains the style i.e. the colors/images/fonts. Also for each control we have to each time go through the theme maker wizard and create a theme. Is there a way to do this together? I am looking at a start-up template which is a start-off file for any project. I am impressed that you have designed templates for RAD ( Rapid Application development). Could you please share your ideas on this? This is something urgent I am looking at so that I could have consistencies in prjects going on. Could you please help? I did see your website, its an awesome concept.
Thanks,
Rajesh Vaswani
Hi Rajesh,
Sorry for delayed reply. I’m not sure what exactly you arelooking for themes. Generally I modify an existing theme and re-use the same. Also, I’d recommend you to export the document/sheet layout and try to re-usethe same. When you export these objects you will see underlying code in XML format.
Cheers - DV
Hi DV,
Thank you for the reply. How do we export the theme for the whole document? I find that for each control we can go and individually generate the theme. My purpose in doing this is to look for creating a default theme that is a standard all the QV developers inside a project follow. This is to make consistencies among the documents generated. To what extent I can control in my theme? I could have a wallpaper for my sheet and standardize on the fonts/colors of controls. Is there a way I could have a default control’s placed using the theme?
Thanks,
Rajesh Vaswani
