Hi,

Yes, Qvs is a Qlikview script file what we write in a edit script(just copy and paste it in notepad and save like myfile.qvs)

Use: We can manitain architecture (we will do a transformation and key creation and etc, so u can divide this part by part) and reusability

So, Key Creation script------> Key_Invoive.qvs

      Transformation----> Trans_Invoice.qvs

then u can include this script into qvw file through Insert-->Include statement-->Select the Qvs file.

I hope it helps U,

hi

qvs can mean two things:

(1) It can be an abbreviation for QlikView Server which is a service that publishes QlikView documents so that you can analyze data over Internet.

(2) It can be a file extension "QlikView Script file" which is just a plain text file containing a QlikView script. You can create it from inside the script editor (File -> Export to script file) and you can use it using an include command (Insert -> Include statement).

hope this helps you.

thanks

Hi Khadeer,

Qvs file : Qvs is a Qlikview Script file,which is used to save script written in edit Script.

             It will be saved as a .qvs file.This file resides at your desired location,just like you save qvds.

The script can be stored as .qvs through File-->Export to Script File --> Save the script at your desired loaction.

This script can be used in other qvws through Insert-->Include statement-->Select the .qvs file.

File-->Export to Script file : Saves the entire script in a text file to be specified in the

                                            Save script dialog that appears.

Insert-->Include Statement :

Opens the Include Script Files dialog, where it is possible to browse for a

                                             script file with one of the following formats: qvs (a previously saved Qlik- view script file), txt or sql.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for the above. As you know there are tabs in QV with various scripts and more tabs can be added.

Is there a way to save all the tab scripts into 1 big file which I can then insert into QlikView and recreate the original tabs? When I do insert it creates one massive script but I am losing the tabs.

Maybe I am using the wrong option to import my script, or the combined script doesn't have the correct format.

Thank you!

I found the answer from another post. So:

Edit script -> Insert  Script file

Initially it will load all script into the main tab.  Close the script editor, and re-open.  Now all tabs should appear as normal.
