Qlikview Server Switchover - Help needed

Hi All

Have a quick question.

I have a new server in place and wanted to switch over from the current live one.

I have installed Qlikview But a License is needed for the new one.

Can i copy the license from the current one to the new live and once set up remove the license from old server?

Does Qlikview Allow this?

I would only be switching license over from old to new but for a week while setting up the new one both may have same License.

Thanks

Hi,

It's probably best to contact your reseller and ask them for a temporary license in the light of a migration-project. In this way you can run your new server with the temporary license until everything has been configured/tested.

Ya i am agree with Jerry but

I thing QVPR file has license information.

You can copy& replace QVPR to new server's QVPR.

and made unlicensed

be careful please take copy of files before doing so.

Thanks guys for your help.

So if i don't do this how do i add folders and jobs to publisher?

Does one have to go offline. If yes i can do this over the weekend?

Switch from old to new is it just remove license from old one and copy over to new one?

My intention is to have exact same in new so old can go offline.

I believe that it'll be fine.

Technically, your license agreement does not allow you to have more than one instance running at any one time. But considering, you are only trying to have a fail safe during the switchover, and only one of them is being used at any one time, i do not believe they would disallow or penalise you for this.

If you like to go really safe, have a word with them and see if you can have a temporary license for the switchover.
