Question on AGGR dimension total

Hi All,

I have a simple but complex requirement.

In teh table below I have "# In group" is a calculated dimension based on Group and sub group.

Is there any way I could add a total at "Group level" and Total level?

Thought of converting it to expression, in that scenario it repeats for every year. (is there any way to make an expression independent?)

Thanks in advance,

Aji Paul.

I don't see a solution for "total calculated dimension".  Maybe there is no any...

If the number of years is always two (or not large in any case), it makes sense to eliminate Year as dimension, and create all caolumns as expressions:
- # In Group
- Qty 2012

- Amt 2012

...

- Total Qty

- Total Amt

Thanks Michael ,

Thought about that but this is a dashboard report which expands by year.

ex. next year we will have 2014 data

Last option is to update the reprot every year 🙂

Updating application every year is not uncommon - but you don't need to update it for THAT reason.  You can define first the max number of years, e.g. five, and create 10 expression based on current year - and make them show conditionally to hide 2011, 2010, etc.

That is, instead 2013, use variable CurrentYear, instead 2012 - CurrentYear-1 (or PrevYear), and so on.

Thanks Michael!

I agree and thats my last option. I do the same with some of my charts and those been working great for couple of years. In those scenario there is only one fact ($Amount)  or #Transaction

Here I have  (not the uploaded qvw , but the real app) many facts

such as

Qty,

Amt

Total Response

%Response.

Total sent

and few more

the challenge here is to group them by year . If I go by multi expression menthod I might have use the custom format and darken the column aftre the last fact for every year 🙂

Thanks,

Aji.

Question has to be a dimension or can be an expression.

Something like:

=sum(aggr(sum(NumInGroup),Group, [Sub Group], Year))
