So John, the multiple of 8 is not a rule. There a lot of variables as data model, rows, coluns.

I always recommend to make this formula:

qvw file size * total of simultaneous users * multipilicator factor (8 to 10).

If you have a total of users only, estimated 10% or 20% as simultaneous.

The QVW size will vary with your data. It isn't a set size and make sure your server can handle the size of the QVW.

The QVW Size is the result about data model and rows.

There isn´t a rule to define what is the qvw size from xx qvds.

QVW file size depends on numerous factors:

1 - size of data on disk

2 - repeated values

3 - # of objects used in an application (E.g. 20 vs. 100 charts)

4 - types of objects used in the application

...

To provide you with the size of a qvw from qvds, where we do not know the size of the qvds nor the other pertinent information listed above would be erroneous. Side note - often times, customers will tell me I have 100 million records (or list some # of records) but really, this doesn't mean that much to me, instead I want to know the size of the data tables on disk...then I can approximate the potential size of the qvw file (although Qlik's compression algorithm can vary the results).

Hope this helps a bit.

Greg, the amount of objects in application there aren´t no relationship with QVW Size.

The type and amount of objects impact in application access time and infrastructure resources as memory and processor.

general size will be in MB s  or GB s

Ricardo. I have found increase in file size when images, and numerous text objects, etc. are included with the qvw. You've experienced different behavior? Thanks for keeping me honest/accurate!

Depends. Generally speaking, smaller data sets...MB...tens of millions+ of records can go into GB range.

Off course, sure, no problem.

Images will increase the qvw file size because all images will be included in qvw when it was reloaded.

So, if you have a app with 800MB of data model and 8mb of images, it´s a small increase, 1%.

But, If you have a app with 50MB of data model and 8mb of images, it´s a big increase,  more than 10%
