Reload a document without showing it in the UI

Hi,

I use 2 QVWs: one to prepare a QVD (The "Extractor" tier), and the other to load the prepared QVD and to present the data for the users (The "Application" tier).

So, the first QVW should not be visible to the users. How can i put the 2 QVWs in the production folder, and cause the "Extractor" to be invisible, and the other QVW to be visible?

Thanks,

Guy

Hi,

I found other good solution:

I created a Mounted Folder that its location is outside the root folder (so the users could not see this folder)

(By the way, you set a mounted folder in Management Console, System-->Folders, and also uncheck the "Browsable" checkbox)

.

Then, locate the Extractor QVD there. You can then set the scheduling in the Reloading tab.

Regards,

Guy

This happens out of the box if you have Publisher (you associate your ETL folder with Publisher and your presentation folder with Server) but is not so simple with the standard Server product.  If you separarate the documents into different folders you can set Active Directory permissions to only expose the QVD Generation folder to selected users - but Admins will see both.  I always a separate Category in Access Point for QVD Generators, so at least users that have access to both ETL and presentation layers can choose which category they want to see.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

If you use Windows OS, the properties of files go in safety and configure which users have access to this file.

Another way is to filter the files in QlikView management console, in the Documents folder / Document information and report one category. In the access point makes the filter by category.

Hi guy - on some versions of QlikView server the Browsable check box being unticked does not actually remove the document from the list of documents on Access Point, but it does mean the document can not be opened.  If they are being hidden for you then that is great.

By not giving your general users AD access to that folder that will certainly remove it from Access Point - with or without the Browsable tab being ticked.
