You could enable/disable this feature in tab layout (and maybe enable the extended layout-mode within the document properties in tab general).

Go to text box properties->Layout-> Uncheck Use border

Go to Properties - Layout

In the Shadow Intensity drop-down, choose No Shadow and make border width = 0.
