Renaming qvw - user loses all customized objects in Access Point

We have about 27 Dashboards in Production and Access Point. I am currently consolidating some of the dashboards into one. The first task is to rename one of the dashboards. When I rename this dashboard and push it to Prod and Access Point, all the customized user created charts/tables are lost. How can I rename a QVW, push the change to Production and Access Point and at the same time make sure that the users maintain their customized objects? Please note that we do have too many users to be able to help one by one. The solution would have to be somewhat automated so we can either train the users on how to keep their objects or  we would offer a solution that would be transparent to the user.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Nicole,

I don't know of a way to do this. The problem is that the objects are save by the object ID and I can see issues with the new document not having the data for the objects that has been created.

User objects are stored in the .shared files on the server.  You'd have to somehow transfer those over to the new dashboard.  Not sure how you would do this though, so maybe someone else can chime in with the details.

Hi,

You would have to rename the .share file that is associated with the QVW.

Bill Britt, how would you do it for multiple files though?  Because it seems like the OP is condensing multiple files into one, so how could you condense multiple .shared files into one?
