Report Editor - Dynamic headers in reports?

Hi all,

I' ve a question regarding the report editor.

I want to build a report including a header, a footer and a pivot-table (many lines, datasheet with more than one page).

In the footer, I want to print the pagenumber ... it's no problem 🙂

In the main section I place the pivot-table ... no problem, too 🙂

And in the header, I want to display a dynamic value/field from the datamodel (no fixed string, a dynamic one coming from the data model).
I cant find a solution how to use fields or expressions or something in the menu of the report. There are only possibilities to insert date/time, pagenumber, pagenumbers, a FIXED image... .
It's also not possible to drag an item from the view to the header/footer-section of the report (in the reporteditor).

Any ideas or how-to's?

thanks,

jup

You could create a text object in you qvw with the information you want to dispaly and they put that in the Report.

Hi,

I'm also facing the Same Problem in getting the Qlikview Fields Dynamically in the Report Header/Footer. Could any one suggest to resolve this problem using alternative approach or default features available in Qlikview.

Hi,

oh my god! what a untinkable buggy thing: Reports with QlikView. I feel like creating reports with Delphi 4... very very buggy and old uncool objects (around 10 years ago).

I feel that's really impossible to create well designed reports. It's nearly unpossible to create pages using the company's corporate identity.

Now - let me answer my own question:

Yeah! It is possible to do this (WOW!!!!) - after dialing with different persons from the support:

1. create a new report
2. datasheet - properties: select MULTIPAGE
3. click okay (close dialog)
4. re-open dialog (datasheet properties) // close/open because fixing a (little) bug^^
5. click on the tab "config/properties" an check the checkbox
6. check on "first page"
7. select 15% height for intro
8. click okay
9. drag your objects from your qv-application onto the (new created) header section of the report
10. now the (new created) header section will be printed on every page of your multipage report.

Try your best!
I feel that it is impossible to create well designed reports in QlikView. If you want to do so, please order an QlikView-Consultant (and pay for him)!!! A support member told me that a consultant would do it like an "professional" : creating a "template" in Word or Excel and then using qlikview macro functions to fill the report-template with your data. This seems really to provide more design features than qlikview has.

I'm so frustrated about the whole QlikView Porduct !!!!!! - not only the report part !!!

Thanks juppinger!

You posting (solution from support) pushed me into the right direction!

I just managed to ceate dynamic headers, although it was a bit "tricky"to acheive.

Qlikview is not state of the art in regards to pixel perfect reports. Its strenght is definitely Dashboards, but not Reporting.

Hi everybody, I need these points.

I include in my reports =getcurrentselections(). QV allows placing this function in the header or footer. Just try it.

Also, sometimes I include =Getcurrentselctions(Year), or all those functions to bring some necessary info to it.

Finaly, to write more than a line, use chr(13) and/or chr(10), enter and feed new line respectively.

I attach an example. Go to reports and click on preview.

Hello,

It looks like you can write any expression in headers/footers.

In edit mode, you juste see the formel. But if you print it, you see the result.

Tested with QV11.
