Requirement gathering for QV dashboard

HI All,

  As there is some session regarding Requirement gathering for our QV dashboard with clients, I would like to know what are the key points do we ( as a developer) need to follow up?

If any boady having good ideas please share with me.

Hi,

first understand the business problem, Current System and what they would like to see in the report. Understanding the Source systems ,data relationships(Number of tables used, key fields of the tables).

Suppose you want to build the report like year/monthwise sales.

1. Understand the current system like how they are currently doing analysis, Need of the KPI.

2. Understand the source(Oracle/Flat files/SQL)

3.Then u will need the number of tables involved for this kpi.

4. What information they would like to see like model wise sales, Dealer wise sales, Seasonal sales, YTD, MTD bla,bla,bla

5. Then ask the technical team how many fields we need to fetch from which tables and relationship among the tables to get the required details.
