Discussion Board for collaboration related to QlikView App Development.
Hi guys,
We have an application, in which the access to users is controlled via Section Access based on the NT username and their Dept.
Users should be able to see only their department's data. we have an excel sheet that has the access rights.
Here is the issue with it, whenever a department name is entered incorrectly, the corresponding user gets default (or complete) access.
For example, if the Depatment is Divisional Management and i enter it as DivisonalManagement (or anything else as a matter of fact - it can be 'xyz' or 'abc'...),
instead of the user losing access, he gets complete access to all the department.
I assume this to be a bug. Or is that, I'm missing out something.
Any help would be highly appreciated!!
Hello,
try the 'Strict Exclusion' setting in th Opening Tab of the Document Settings.
I think it does what you need.
hth,
Thilo
Thanks but tried that already.
Doesn't work either.
Rocky,
Thilo is right - "Strict Exclusion" is used exactly to avoid this situation. If it doesn't work, it maybe either something's not quite right with your section access to section application relations,, or some new bug.
Speaking of a bug - what QV version you're using? Did you try another version?
The firm still uses 8.2.
Strict Exclusion was working in 7.x for sure, and it works in 8.50 too. Can't tell about 8.20.
If it's a bug in 8.20, don't expect QlikTech to go back and fix it. But the chances are that your security model is not clean.
If you can try you app with another version, you can at least find out if it's 8.20 issue or the design problem.
