Hi all,
My section access based on NTNAME is working fine on my local PC, but once it's published through publisher and uploaded to the server, no one, including admins like myself, get permission to view the document. I have done the usual steps like Initial Data Reduction Based on Section Access and Strict Exclusion. Is there some special permissioning required on Publisher?
yes, you need to distribute Application to them and have Doc/named cal .
If you are unable to see document at accesspoint implies you did not add users in distribution list .If you can see Document and can't open document implies need to add Doc cal.
Hi,
Did you assign cal to them???
If you want to give them document cal.
In QMC -> Document ->Select Document-> Add Document Cal.

Hi,
Did you provide access to the Dashboard in QMC?
QMC - > Documents -> User Documents -> Select Document -> Authorization -> Named Users -> Add the users

jagan.
Hi Sifat,
Not knowing the details of your section access table, here's my guess.
When you open an app with section access in QlikView Desktop you can be Admin or User based on the Access field.
When connecting as an admin you will be able to open the application even when a proper reduction is not available.
If you open the application via Server, your connection will be considered a User (regardless of what Access is set as in the section access script). Everyone is a user when connecting to the server and you need to have a proper reduction linkage in place between section access and your datamodel.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
One more query Are those user able see that document on Access Point??????
Regards
Thanks jsn, how do I do the proper reduction linkage? Because I have users setup, they can see the document but can't open it. For example,
ACCESS | NTNAME | SALESPERSON |
USER | GLOBAL\J_K |
The above user, similar to me, could not open the document. Thoughts?
Hi Sifat,
Your user GLOBAL\J_K does not have a value for SALESPERSON. I assume you want this user to see all salespeople.
If you create a second table within your section access with two fields, REDUCTION & SALESPERSON.
REDUCTION | SALESPERSON |
ALL | 1 |
ALL | 2 |
ALL | 3 |
1 | 1 |
2 | 2 |
3 | 3 |
Then in your main section access table you use:
ACCESS | NTNAME | REDUCTION |
USER | GLOBAL\J_K | ALL |
USER | GLOBAL\XYZ | 2 |
Your username GLOBAL\J_K will link to ALL in REDUCTION, which in turn links to SALESPERSON 1,2, & 3, that link into your main datamodel. The second example, user GLOBAL\XYZ would only see Salesperson 2.
