We have the Small Business Edition of QlikView with about 50 users.
Unfortunately we are literally creating almost an identical file for each end user that is a salesperson so they only see their own sales and commissions. This obviously has a ton of issues not the least which is any time there is new data or an object has to be added/modified it has to be done in every file!
Any advice on whether we can create security where a user would only see the data they are given access to? Each salesperson has an ID within a customer table that is used in the model - not sure if that can somehow be used?
Or do we need to upgrade to publisher?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
Hi Steve,
You don't need to make several applications, just one and use instead the feature called Section Acces to decide which piece of information each user can see by doing a field reduction based on the ID of the sales person.
Here is an introduction to Section Access:

I hope this helps.
