Security question

How do I give access to user to access different qvw files.

I have first.QVW, second.QVW files

How do I give access to a group of users for first.QVW and another group of users to second.QVW.

How do I create that user groups in enter prise management console.

Thanks for the help

Hi Satheesh,

I may be missing something here. What do you mean by creating users in the QEMC?

There are two steps to grant users access. First is authentication (who can see the files). This task is always done by the operating system, either NTFS or any other LDAP directory o security directory. QlikView allows you to create users that will correspond to those in the directory using DMS (QEMC, System, Setup, QlikView Servers, Security) instead of NTFS, but you need an Enterprise Edition license to make it work.

Second step is once the user has granted access to the file, what records can this user see, is called authorization. It's usually done by a section access in your file, so depending on the user logged, the records shown will be different. But if you have a Publisher license, you can perform reduction and distribution tasks that will creat, starting from a file with all the records, as many QVW files as users you have.

As far as I understand, you need to deal that with permissions in the security directory.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Miguel.

I am taking about the authorization.  My question is, Is it possible to create user groups, meaning grouping users.

First.QVW is restricted to users A,B,C which I want to name the group as First User group.

Second.QVW is restricted to users D,E,F which I want to name as Second User group.

Is it possible to create user group like that?
