Selection on the dashboard

Problem: The previously selection wil delete when you select a monthnumber that have no data

Situation:

I have got sales information per salesmanager from the year 2009 and month 1 till 12 and year 2010 month 1 till 7.

step 1: selection on an salesmanager, the pivot wil build up the data on the dashboard

step 2: selection year 2010

step 3: selection period 7 (rigth data show up)

step 4: now I click on periode 10 (there is no data from 2010-10) and in the 'Current selection' object the year is automatic removed by QlickView and I see data from 2009 period 10 on the dashboard???

Question: Why delete QlikView the selection on year 2010.

Hi,

This is due to Qlikview's associative logic property.

By default, whenever you make any selections in one field, the other field values which are related to the current selection will be highlighted and all irrelevant values will be in grey background.

In your case, when you select year 2010 only the period with values in 2010 will be selectable (period 1 to 7) and all other including period 10 will be in grey background. This indicates that there is no value related to period 10 for the year selection 2010.

So, when you select period 10, selection of year 2010 is removed since there is no value associated with 2010 for period 10. This is how Qlikview behaves.

I hope this explanation clears your doubt.

Cheers,

Haneesh

Is there any way of switching this off? My users would prefer to be able to select an item and see an answer of "0" rather than being restricted on what they can select in the first place. Plus if they want to select a whole year in the calendar they have to be careful where they start their selection.

The way Qlikview works works fine for me but it's not what they're used to.

Hi!

Our user has the same requirement: he would prefer to select an item and see an answer of "0" rather than have the previous selections deleted.

Is there anyone who find out how to do it?

At the moment we have forced Qlik selections normal behaviour locking and unlocking every time the selections we dont'want to loose.

Thanks
