Share datamodel between Sense and View?

I new to Qlik but what I have gathered so far is that Sense is their more visual analytical interface while View is a more guided "on rails" experience that lets you have increased control compared to Sense but requires more of a "developer" to setup reports/dashboards/etc.

I like that both options are available as for my needs I will want to leverage both (more user driven in some cases but a more guided "pixel perfect" layout type that View seems to offer.  (Assuming I am viewing this correctly).

My question:  If I setup a datamodel for View can I use it in Sense as well?

I would want to setup some datamodels for our CRM system, HR data, general contract sales and orders by customer, etc...

However, I don't want to have to recreate these twice: once for Qlik View and again for Qlik Sense.

Is it possible to reuse these and the measures created or is Qlik View to be shyed away from and Qlik Sense only used going forwards?

Not sure how to properly approach the tool.

Thanks!

Even in my current production deployment we use Qlikview and Qlik Sense Both where they both share same data models (QVW).

When you say adding new Fields/measures assuming a new column in your Qlik datamodel . If so adding a new column & refreshing the model & apps (Qlikview & Qlik sense) will load that field in to the app, but you have to create metric/dimension in qlikview/qlik sense UI(front end) every time there is a new filed added to the app.

Here only shareable part between two environments is Data model + Data that's it. You can not define a Expression in Qlikview and can not expect that expression will be available in Qlik Sense.

Here is my suggestion.

1. Qlik Publisher -- > Re loads the Datamodel QVW

2. After Re load --> Datamodel.QVW --> Will be pushed into Qlikview & Qlik Sense Environements (Two Copies)

3. Qlikview UI app will binary load this Datamodel.QVW

4. Qlik Sense app will binary load this Datamodel QVW

Hope this helps.

Yes, data model can be shared across. All you have to do a binary load of QVW into qlik sense app.

Only UI needs an update in Qlik sense.

We would be doing this a corporate deployment so then we could use Qlik's enterprise server features to host this?

Would my development cycle be that I update the data model (say we add new fields or measures, etc..) then upload the model to the server (the same model) basically twice.

Once for Qlik Sense and then again for Qlik View but, I still get to have 1 model overall that I use for development.

I don't have to manually synchronize two separate models, etc...?
