Show Closed and Opened case in a single chart

Looking to show Opened AND Closed cases in a single chart, both with different dates so using either date as the reference date will NOT work.

How would I show # of Opened and # of closed by Day/Week/Month? I assume I need some sort of master calendar but not sure how to create a master date to show case activity by date.
