Show/Hide alternatives based on previous selection

Hi all,

These should be a rather simple thing but I just cant figure it out. I have a set of parent/child fields (error types and the individual errors). When i select the parent it correctly selects the children, however i have have no selection it shows me all children (as it should). What I want to do is hide all "unselected" children from this field, that is, if i haven't selected a parent the field should appear empty. If I select several parents I still naturally want it so select all subsequent kids. Ideas?

Cheers,

thanks for the tips SALTO however that was not really what i was looking for. I dont need an automatic selection, I just need it to hide the not possible selections - how would i do that?

thank you, but a "hide excluded" solution will not do. i will need it to also sort on the ones that are actually showing. otherwise i will end up with a lot of empty, grey space. there has to be a trigger or something for this, i just cannot figure that one out...

then you can try using NoGreen extension to customise the background of all excluded values...
