Some other way to protect names?

Hi,

I have an issue that seems simple: In one chart I want to show in a team_app, there are names which I'd like to hide - for everyone except the teamleader and Management.

Other teams have no access anyway, they don't have a license for this app.

There is, however, only one logon (and password) for the team_account, the licence being assigned to the team_account, so there is seemingly no way of telling whether it is the teamleader viewing the app or some other team_member.

I could use a username and password instead to determine whether or not to display the names, but that would be too complicated, I want to keep it as simple as possible for the users.

Is there any way I can set up a trigger (on a button) to ask for a password and display those columns (I guess it will be a straight_table) only if the password is correct? I guess it could be done with a macro, but I cannot write VB.

Can anyone help me achieve this?

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Hi DataNibbler,

if you need it real confidential then you will need user + pw in section access. If not you could show for example a dummy-field for the names and a (hidden) button which asked for a password and if it's correct the dummy-field will be exchanged with the real one - controlled by conditions per variables.

Hi,

why don't use section access for it?

Hi,

you are right. It's not really confidential data as it will stay within the team anyway - only it's about obvious errors some employee or other has made and it wouldn't be good to have the different members of one team pointing fingers at each other and comparing the nr. of errors they make etc ... On the other hand, the teamleader (and the team_members too, for that matter) have access to the original data_file anyway 😉 It's really kind of a game - the issue of data_protection is a very strange one, here just like everywhere ...

A hidden button would be a fun way of doing it - I could give a "treasure map" to the teamleader to find it 😉

I guess that would be a way to devise a funny little game in QlikView - build a labyrinth where one has to find several treasures in order ...

Well, I can keep that for doing when I am very bored here - which is not likely to happen soon as I am alone in my team and thus there's always something to do ...

Thanks anyway!

Hi,

you are right, we do a lot of effort to implement security and the users export and prints everything to everyone and exchange their credentials ... it's really just a game.
