I have a qlikview table that I want to sort according to the timestamp numeric value however I don't want to display that in my table. I want to display the 'user friendly' display of the month. I want to use the sort tab within the table properties to change the sort to be an expression using the column NUMFISCAL_TIMESTAMP however, the table isn't sorting the way I would expect it to. I would expect the table to sort according to the FISCAL_ACTUAL_BEGIN_DT (which the NUMFISCAL_TIMESTAMP column is based off of). Your assistance is greatly appreciated
When I open your document it is sorted by date?
You can promote the column in the sort tab so that the one you want to sort on is listed first.
The customer doesn't want to see the date field, they want to see the field called 'Display' I through the other fields in there for demonstration purposes. I know I need to use the Expression within the Sort tab however, that's not working the way I anticipated.
I understand your expectation. When I open this document the data is in order by FISCAL_ACTUAL_BEGIN_DT ... but there is also very limited data here. With only these 12 records, one for each month, it does not appear to matter which you sort by because it stays in order.
And these stay in order when I keep your sort funtion and delete the extra dimensions.
That's funny cause this is what I come up with
Is there something wrong in my default? How am I set up differently than you are set up?
That is strange. I opened your document and made no changes. Just to humor me, will you close the one you have open and open up the one you posted here?
sorry, I don't see the one you posted
