The value of Qlikview certification

Hi, IMO most certifications for any IT technology are worthless. I took a certification for a different thing once and clearly saw that it has no value in the industry. I also know some excellent QV developers who have 6 month - 2 years of Qlikview experience and no certification. They feel that it is not necessary. They are pretty good and got jobs easily. They did have some experience (1-3 years)
in BI though.

It makes me wonder why do many employers demand certification ? What is the value in it ?

My thoughts

(1) I have 3 years of experience and no certification yet.No one asked me about certification even though I have attended for many interviews and got selected.

(2) Some companies put certification as a selection criteria to filter the candidates.

(3) Some companies depend on certification if they don't have any one to take the Qlikview interview and decide the skill level.

Bottom line :

It is not very important. But certification definitely adds some value to your resume which is good.

Thanks for your reply Chiranjeevi. If you don't mind, can you tell me what were you expected to know (eg. QlikV, SQL, Dimensional Modeling basics, ETL etc.) for your very first QV project ?

Thanks once again. I have some questions -

(3) Set analysis  and Alternated states - What does this mean ? Does set analysis = Math set theory ?

(4) loop and reduce of QEMC, data discovery feature - what does this mean ?

(1) Set Analysis is used to in front end object expressions to achieve some of the requirements

       Romancing with Set Analysis

(2) Alternates state is new Qlikview feature added in QV 11.By using that we can make that one sheet selection won't affect other sheet selections

Alternate States in Qlikview « Learn Qlikview

(3)  loop and reduce is used to divide your large application in to smaller application by using some field value.

This is used when your applications sizehuge or you need to provide security for the data.

  Ex : by year,By State,By user..etc.  we can mention.

(4) Data discivery is nice feature added in QV 11.By using that we do not need to bring all the data in to Qlikview.

According to user selections QV brings only related records and show.
