Truncated Document Logs generated even for successful Qlikview tasks in QMC

****URGENT HELP REQUIRED****

Hi,

We are using Qlikview 11.20.12904.0 version. We are using it from very long time, but from past few days we are facing the issue below.

Truncated Document Logs are getting generated in Log Location(i.e. in 'QDS Application Data Folder') by tasks in Qlikview QMC, irrespective of whether the task completes successfully or fails. Seeing this issue with almost all tasks.

Could somebody please help ??

Thanks,

Kunika

Are you able to provide an example of these truncated logs?  How long are the logs writing before being stopped?  Have there been any recent changes in your Qlikview environment?

The correct process for the document logs is they are written locally to your AppData folder while the QVW is being reloaded and then transferred to the root folder once the reload is complete.

Do your document logs look anything like this?

Information    The Source Document was reloaded successfully.
Information    QlikView->Settings->Document Peferences->Generate Logfile in document is set. Enabling Log Copier.
Information    Looking for the document log "\\...\test.qvw" to become available.
Information    Found a document log. FileName=\\....\test.qvw.log
Information    Writing documentLog to \\...\QDS\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\Log\20190330\test\DocumentLog.txt
Information    Slow down logging. Log every <600> seconds.
Information    Reloading
Information    Read Document Log was aborted
Information    Reload finished successfully

Thanks,

Josh

Sorry for late reply.

Yes, the tasks are getting completed properly, their status also gets showed up as Successful in QMC.

Hi @kunika-arora ,

what happens if you try to reload the document in the Desktop client. Are you also getting truncated logs?
It would be interesting to know if there's any difference between the qv.exe and the qvb.exe.
Can you also attach some logs as reference?

Hi  @Josh_Berg_Support ,

Very sorry for late reply.

The logs are getting stopped at random times for random tasks. Plus, there have been no changes in the Qlikview Environment.

Yes, the pattern of content in task logs for truncated document logs looks very similar to the content you have posted - with the statements "Slow down logging. Log every <*> seconds"(where * is diff values at diff times, sometimes 2,10,60 etc.) and "Read Document Log was aborted". Does having these 2 statements in the task log point to any known rootcause ? If so what is it and how can it be resolved ??

Thanks,

Kunika

Hi  @Daniele_Purrone ,

We are observing that Full document logs are getting generated in the Application folder while the QVW is being reloaded... but the Document logs written/transferred in the QDS log repository are truncated. Plus, this behavior of truncated Document Logs is being observed for some reloads for tasks at random times.

I have attached one task log and corresponding Truncated Document Log. Please take a look at them and advise.

Thanks,

Kunika

A big shout-out to the Qlik Experts !! Can somebody please help ?? Need to resolve this urgently.

I can see on your document log:

Read Document Log was aborted

Looks like the issue mentioned in - https://support.qlik.com/articles/000070420.

That was identified as a bug and the solution was provided in 12.20 IR.
