Hello,
Has anybody ever experienced any issues with being unable to view tables in an Access database through Qlikview? I have a 32-bit ODBC connection set up to the database in question. In the QV script editor, I click Connect and choose my ODBC connection to Access, then when I click on Select it is completely blank, it won't show me any tables. I am able to view the tables using the same ODBC connection in Crystal Reports, so I am stumped as to why I can't see them in QV. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
32 -bit QV clients will not show the 64-bit ODBC connections in the source list(even if you have a valid ODBC defind in the system) and most probably vice versa. So match this and try..

I am using a 32 bit ODBC connection in a 32 bit version of Qlikview
Hello
I am using 6.00.6001.18000 and dated 19/Jan/2008 , 32 bit ODBC and it is working just fine try to update the driver and it should work.

If there is no bit-parity mismatch, definitly it should work. I just created one Access ODBC for a test and it is appearing in the list of ,data source names' from which I can select and getting connected successfully! If still can't resolve, lt us wait for soe expert opinions..
Gud Luck,

The strange thing is that I have ODBC connections to other Access databases and they do not have this problem, so I'm thinking it must be something to do with the DB itself. It originally had a password on it, so I tried removing the security settings and it made no difference. I've tried it on a couple of differenct PC's in case there is something weird with my laptop, but no luck.
One last comment : If you have a password in the MS office document level, QV fails in accessing the file (for example a password protected Excel). Does that bytes you? Move a subset of data to another MDB and try...

Hmm that's interesting Arun. I exported one of the tables into a new DB and that worked. I thought that removing the password protection would work, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. This is a huge database, I can't see the creators wanting to re-build it just for QV. I guess there are no other workarounds for this problem?
I've seen something similar with MySQL and QlikView where certain conditions lead to the connection working fine but the select wizard showing no tables or columns. In that case manual select statements worked fine though so you can try if a manually written select statement runs even though you can't see the tables in the wizard. It is strange though..
