Unfortunately, I am using QV 8.01 and thus do not have the ability to use Set Analysis. Here is my problem:
For recreationsal vehicles, there are dimentional fields such as model year, product group, model number. Vehicles have registrations and claims. Regarding claims, they are broken down into system codes and component codes (i.e. system code = engine; component code = piston). Say a user selects one or more model years, a product group, and x model numbers. There is a resulting set of system and component codes representing the claims for the selected model years, product group, and model numbers as well as the count of claims and count of registrations. The problem is this: when selecting system code(s) and/or component code(s), the claim count filters correctly or as one would expect, but I do not want the registration count to change/filter. The issue is there are models that have registrations but no claims (e.g. no claims representing the selected system/component codes) . I want to see the 'normalized' ratio of claims/registrations which is why the registration count cannot change (be filtered) by selection of system/component codes.
I've searched the forums and have seen one similar post (insurance premiums vs claims) where the resolve was to move to QV 9 and use Set Analysis. I've also seen reference to using '*' character... but can't seem to get that to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
