Upgrading Server Advice on Existing Documents

Hi,

I am currently running Qlikview 11 sr2 and want to go on the latest service release for Qlikview 12.

We currently have two Physical servers one for LIVE and one for DR, but the setup for these two was not done very well where we are having many performance issues and constantly get "No Server" on Access Point. We now have a new physical server available for us to use and I am in a predicament on what to do and any advice would be muchly appreciated.

  • Should I install the Latest version of Qlikview 12 on the new server and copy all the Live QVD files to this and create all the same folder structures
  • Or run the Governance Dashboard or a another Utility performance tool you suggest against each Live Document (we have three at the moment) and see which fields are causing a bottleneck or which fields are not being used and amend this before bringing this to the new Server?
  • All Live Documents are all using IE Plugin functionality, do you think I should amend them so they do not need to rely on IE Plugin and recreate in WebView? I am only thinking this as any future server upgrades we do. we do not have to worry what version of the IE plugin the end user is on as they will be open the document without this being installed.
  • Or should I think about using Qliksense and if so is it easy to convert from Qikview to Qliksense?

Decisions, Decisions?!

Thanks

Do you know why your Production machine is getting those "No Server" messages? It seems that you want to fix a set of problems, but you are not giving any details about what is causing them. For example, if you have Server/Publisher resource conflicts, it would be a good thing to turn a two server-setup into a three server-setup. But that's just an assumption.

An upgrade just to upgrade or because Dec 8th is nearing is not very useful

Hi, I think the No Server error is a known bug in version 11 plus the data model is not the best for a particular Document. Whats happening on 8th December?

Dec 8th: EOL for QlikView 11.xx. No more support.

So in your opinion the problems aren't due to the original Server architecture or configuration?
