Upgrading from Version 8.2 to 9.0

Hi All...

We are currently on QlikView Enterprise for Windows version 8.20.54.15.2 and are looking to upgrade to version 9.

Really just looking for guidance / any pitfalls we should be looking out for...

Regards

Paul

I don't have specifics as I went from 8.5 to 9.0. You should be able to have both versions installed at once. Some people suggesting backing up your original QlikView install directory. I also installed 9 in a different directory (QlikView9 as opposed to QlikView).

Also, you should probably keep a separate set of applications that you never open in 9. Then make a copy of all your apps and have them be your version 9 apps. There were some things that didn't work between 8.5 and 9, but I didn't have anything major. The odds are there are more differences between 8.2 and 9, so you will probably run into more issues when opening your old apps.

If something doesn't work in 9, you have your old version to fall back on. Then you can try and recreate the functionality in 9.

Our Network Manager contacted our QlikView provider re upgrading to version 9 and we are being quoted thousands for this upgrade...

(Consultancy plus new licensing)...

Whilst doing the upgrade, we want to move to a new higher spec server...

Does anyone else have any experience of this...appreciate that the licensing concept has changed as there is no longer Enterprise / Professional / Analyser but this seems a bit OTT for a software upgrade...
