Using personal edition x86 on a 64bit computer. Slower than desire. Can I change to 64 bit version?

Using personal edition Qlikview x86 on a 64bit computer.  Slower than desired.  Can I change to 64 bit version of Qlikview on the same computer and have it NOT impact the Qlikview files I am already using?  I do NOT want to utilize any of the 4 reload/recovery tries for a file that exists with the personal edition.

Qlikview Reference manual V.11.pdf on page 29 states:

As a user of QlikView Personal edition you can upgrade the software to a newer version at any time and continue

working with your documents. New versions may be downloaded on the QlikView download page and

installed on the existing computer.
