I would advise you to create a second valuelist() that would contain your expression headers. Then you would have only 1 expression in your chart that would need to check the value of both valuelists and output the appropriate expression value. This would take care of the null problem. Btw, I would suggest that you consider using island dimensions instead of a valuelist and you may see some performance improvements.
