Hi
I was just wondering what is that Excel cannot do and but QlikView does? Some people just keep asking me why they need QlikView when Excel can do many thing.
Expecting very informative points and also hope this post will be very much intresting for everyone.
HI,
Below are my observation.
Qlikview can can retrieve data from multiple datasource like SAP, Oracle, SQL.
The data from these source are stored in compresed format.
In the same scenario we can pull data from excel, but the data size becomes huge if the no of rows are high. hence opening the excel and doing calculation take lots of time.
Hi,
can Excel use the same filter in different objects?
Can you change the dimension or the formula in one object . Or a bookmark?
I think there are many benefits. In excel you can crate objects, of course, but in what time and what comfort?
Don't think about the possibility to share apps, share objects, share bookmars on server.
Enough
Why would I buy accounting software when I can do accounting in Excel?
Why would I buy an order entry system when I can enter orders into Excel?
Why would I buy a word processor when I can write text in Excel?
Why would I buy a BI tool when I can do BI in Excel?
Because you should use the right tool for the job. You don't hammer nails with a screwdriver, even if technically you could do so. A hammer is designed to hammer nails. It's the right tool for the job.
Spreadsheets are very flexible and can be used for very many things. There's nothing wrong with Excel. But it isn't accounting software, an order entry system, a word processor, or a BI tool, even if you can force it to take those roles on a small scale.
I know that's not very helpful when you have users looking for a long list of reasons to not hammer nails with a screwdriver. But to me it's just so very, very basic. Hammer nails with a hammer.
