Hello,
We're new to Qlikview and have about 3k employees in a global mfg/service company, running SAP. I'm trying to propose a naming convention for our qlikview applications. Some think it should be module based. Profitability, AR, AP etc... But I'm thinking it should be Role Based for senior execs at least: CEO, CFO, Divisional Head, etc because their applications will span several modules... What have others done in this regard?
Thanks,
Steve
hi Stephen, you definitely want to have naming conventions for QDS tasks (publisher tasks) and QVWs but as far as app names on AccessPoint, why would you force developers and users to use naming conventions? Honestly never heard about such practice. I think you users should understand what they are for and this what you should focus on.
What you can do is to categorize them using Category dropdown on AccessPoint, so when you publish new apps, you will assign a category on your reload task and category can defined by business unit / area or the audience role.
I would also suggest to spend some time and come up with a good folder structure for your projects - see discussion here for example
Hi,
Module based naming would be correct.
Thanks,

TThanks guys. Boyrs, my question is only about the QVW / category names in access point. Also note that IT develops the QVW / categories. Not the users.
Rajesh, I can't imagine my CFO logging into a QVW named "COPA", "AR", or MATERIALS MANANAGEMENT" (modules).
Should'nt the CFO QVW be called CFO Dashboard since it spans all of these modules?
