This is one of those really frustrating reasons why a big part of me really hates AJAX. I develop a nice looking report screen with a couple of bar charts and a straight table chart, taking great care to make sure they all align properly. Then I switch to Webview and the table suddenly sprouts a scroll bar at the bottom where none existed previously.
So I carefully resize the columns to make it all look good again, then switch back to normal view, only to find that the table has shrunk by about 5pts. Argh!
I have both internal and external people using this document. Internally, where possible we are using IE plugin to combat some of the other little features of AJAX that I also dislike (search object retain search string entered once selection is made, the text in a cell doesn't appear when you hover over it if the cell is too narrow, general look at feel is still boxy, etc.). Externally, we have to offer AJAX due to difficulties with getting the plugin onto client computers. So I have to cater for both sets of clients with a single document, which is fine ... but WHY DOES THE SIZE CHANGE????
Help!
I have some very particular clients who will complain about the difference!
Thanks in hopefulness,
Emma
p.s. using V10 SR3 at the moment
Emma, did you ever get any help with this?
Hi Brandon,
Nope - never got any answers to this. I really do wish they would sort out AJAX so that it behaved and looked like the plugin, all these new developments are great but the basics still need to be finished off! It frustrates me because we end up with a much less professional finish. Moving to V11 as soon as SR2 comes out (I'm always a bit nerous of the first couple of releases) but I don't think this will resolve the problem.
Cheers,
Emma
