Hi,
I have a pivot table comprising a single dimension of Year-Month which has been pivoted to display horizontally. The expression is displayed as a percentage, like this...
However, you will notice the expression label doesn't display even though I have it set thus...
Any ideas why the label doesn't show ?
MV
Maybe it's also an option to use a straight table with 'horizontal' option enabled on presentation tab instead of the pivot table. This should get you the expression label as requested.
can u chnge the chart type nd chk once?
Not sure but it looks like you have used custom format cell and made both text and bkground color same.
Is it possible to share a sample?
Hi,
That is normal behaviour of pivot table in qv with single expression.. may be you can one more dummy dimension and drag to top..
Here are screen shots of:
1. The original pivot table sheet object.
2. The 'Custom Format Cell' dialog box of the expression label cell ('Attendance') with the white background.
3. The pivot table after it's been pivoted so that the dimension Month-Year appears horizontally. Why has the expression label final displayed with a grey background ?
My guess is that the pivot table is designed that way. If you only have one expression it doesn't really make sense to show and the dimension value and the expression label as headers for each column. You'd give the pivot table itself a caption label that explains what measure it shows. And that is where you see the label you give the expression (unless you disable the caption or give the caption itself a label).
Hi,
Thanks for the advice. How do I create a dummy dimension ?
I was trying to copy the same format for other objects on the sheet. For example, pivot tables with more than 1 dimension.
Thanks for your help
Maybe it's also an option to use a straight table with 'horizontal' option enabled on presentation tab instead of the pivot table. This should get you the expression label as requested.
