Why we use 'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client

Hi All,

Why we  use  'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client or if i ask how  'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client is better then IE plugin.

Scenerio is that we have developed some dashboards using version 9. Now these are deployed on the server where 'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client is used.

Due to this look and feel is not showing properly. Previously IE plugin was used so it was getting displayed properly.

Now due to 'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client seems we need to use webview controls.

So just trying to understand why IE plugin is replaced with 'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client.

As am not sure about 'AJAX zero foot print' Browser client  may be my query seems to be wired.

Thanks in Advance.

AJAX is better because it can be viewed on any computer, tablet or mobile.  It can be viewed without installing any client so you also don't have to worry about updating the client either.  You can add extensions to the AJAX and include it in other websites.

There are limitations in the graphical presentation that QT is trying to improve with every version that is released.  Developers can always get a preview of what the user can expect using the WebView button on the toolbar in QlikView Desktop.

Thanks Karl for replying.

As per the attached screenshot unable to get WebView button on the toolbar in QlikView Desktop in version 9.

Is this button available in version 10 and not in version 9.

Please help as qlikview server got upgraded with version 10 and using  'AJAX zero foot print' .

While development is done on version 9. Can anybody help to analyze what all changes will be required so that look and feel does not impact. Currently it is getting impact in such a way that we are getting link wrapped onto two lines.

If anybody faced the same scenerio pls share your input on this.

Thanks in advance.Untitled.bmp

The WebView is availabe in version 10 and the ajax generation of QV objects is one of the QV components that is seeing alot of changes between versions.  Here are a couple differences of the differences I remember seeing in QV 10.

1. Horizontal multi-box does not display correctly

2. Scrollbars are always the large classic scrollbars

3. Spacing between objects changes

What do you mean by "getting link wrapped onto two lines"?
