Wrong Location of of Primary Labels

Hi,

In the attached chart,  I have used the tips given here to display a secondary dimension:

Labels in Bar Chart

The issue i have is with the Primary labels not shown in the right location:

Any idea how i can fix it?

I think that is the default behaviour of a bar chart with grouped style, the first dimension values are centered below the group.

Your first dimensions seem not to share second dimension values, so maybe you would be better of using a combined single dimension Dim1 & Dim2 instead of using two dimension, or maybe using Dim2 as first only dimension and Dim1 only as additional value information on data point.

There are some threads here in the forum on how to get a more decent appearance with a combined dimension using some value formatting, if you are interested in that.

Hi Swuehl,

I have tried the combined dimensions, and the only fault is that all have the same color. So I'll have to figure how to display each group (under dim1) in a different color. I would be looking for some ideas about "descent" appearance.

Thanks!

You can assign the bar color accordingly by using a background color attribute expression (open the attributes of your bar expression by clicking on the small plus sign next to the expression label in the tree view on expression tab), like

=Color(FieldIndex('Dim1',Dim1))

where Dim1 is the field name of your first dimension (replace accordingly).
