alert/notify even if document is not opened

i would like to ask how or what alert/notification method/function to use where a qlikview document will still send an email/notification on some condition even if it's not opened. really appreciate if somebody know or encounter this issue.

off the top of my head, i'd program a scheduled task on the server to "qv.exe /r" every X amount of time. (I guess there's a easier way with publisher, which I haven't tried yet)

Anyone has a solution?

What I need is an alert / notification without opening qvw when total sales is greater than a certain number.
